We all know that food and medicine expire, at some point. But how many of us have really thought about lipsticks and creams? As it turns out, those expire, too. But each product is unique, with a different combo of ingredients. The real way to know how long each item lasts is right on the package. Ever noticed this little symbol? It had meaning all along, and it's time to decode.

The tiny jar symbol in the corner has a number, and that indicates how many months it lasts after opening. There might be a long-term expiration date printed elsewhere, whether the seal is open or closed. Both are important to know!
