Antigua, Guatemala

In general, Guatemala features some of the best preserved colonial buildings in the world. The architecture has lost none of its original beauty, nor the ingenuity and intricacies of its designs. And nowhere in Guatemala is this more apparent than in Antigua. Despite its now ancient heritage, there’s a modern flavor to it as well - simply put, the city seems to be aware of how popular of a tourist destination it is and, as such, it accommodates explorers of all kinds, colors, and creeds. The food is delicious, the colors are lively.

That being said, this is one of those places that is best traveled to with a group. The nighttimes are known to be fairly dangerous, especially in the more ancient parts of the city - stick to the daytime markets and attractions for the best experience.
