Xian, China

A list like this simply wouldn’t be complete without any Chinese destination. Except, it’s not Hong Kong or Shanghai (although those would be great to visit as well). No, it’s Xian, an ancient city that is said to be the birthplace of Chinese civilization as we know it. This list is full of places steeped in history and culture, but it hardly gets more epic than this. Many of the old buildings have stood the test of time, such as the Xian city wall and its ancient tower. Of course, it’s also home to some of the world’s best cuisine. Who would have figured, right?

In 2018, it was ranked as one of the world’s cheapest places to visit and it holds that honor still to this day. It should be added to everyone's bucket list for sure!
