While many European countries are well known throughout the world (either due to their politics, celebrities, or both), some are more low-key than others. Enter Lithuania, one of Europe’s smaller territories but no less brimming with beauty and splendor. Half the country is purely forests and lakes, which is perfect for fans of hiking and canoeing. Vilnius, in particular, makes for a budget-friendly travel destination. Many activities are totally free. We’d suggest visiting during Autumn or Winter, when the city really comes alive.
