South Africa’s history is long and varied, with a few notable ugly spots around the 20th century. However, while its past may be muddy, the same can’t be said for many of the locales in this beautiful country, especially Cape Town. It’s sort of like the New York or Los Angeles of South Africa, an urban jewel filled with colorful people from all walks of life. It’s also a pretty cheap place to visit. An average day trip in Cape Town shouldn’t cost you more than $40, but it’s pretty easy to spend even less than that.
