A Salt Mine Trench

When you think of the desert, you probably think of dry landscapes without any sign of water for miles. But it turns out that many deserts across the world are full of salt - which has been an enticing prospect for humans over the years. The Mojave desert is full of some of the biggest salt flats in the world, and this has changed the landscape. In fact, you'll spot many salt mine trenches dug out here.

They have resulted in water-filled areas just like this. This whole picture looks incredibly strange, from the green color to the craggy sides of the trench. But, apparently, this is fairly common in the desert.
