A Watermelon in the Sahara

You probably don't need us to tell you that watermelons rely on water to grow. So, imagine this person's surprise when they were wandering through the Sahara desert and stumbled upon a wild watermelon plant! Not only were the leaves green and luscious, but the watermelons that were growing were big and juicy. Of course, they were confused, and couldn't understand how such a thing could grow in such dry conditions.

Apparently, watermelons are able to grow in the desert - but you probably wouldn't want to eat one. Their innards are apparently very hard and bitter, unlike the soft and hydrating watermelons we're used to.
