New Brunswick, New Jersey

You might immediately think of the Jersey Shore when you think of New Jersey, but there is so much more to this state than you might realize. There are so many amazing cities there, but according to U.S. census data, New Brunswick isn't one of them. It's considered to be one of the worst places in America due to the fact that so many of the residents struggle to find work and live below the poverty line.

As if that wasn't enough, the city has also struggled with violence over the past few years. In 2017 alone, gun crimes increased by a whopping 64% over the course of just one year.
