Jackson, Mississippi

It's hard when local authorities don't understand the struggles of regular people, and this has ultimately made Jackson, Mississippi, one of the worst places in America to live. And while this place is home to beautiful buildings and a rich history, 29% of the population lives below the poverty line. And when 20,000 residents struggled to pay $45 million worth of bills a few years ago, the local government threatened to cut off their water.

Because of this, more and more people have chosen to leave their homes behind and say goodbye to Jackson for good. And, of course, that hasn't helped the economy at all.
