'Bumpy' Roads

We're not sure exactly what this person trying to complain about, but we'll give you the quote and let you be the judge. They wrote a review on a website that said, "The roads were uneven and bumpy, so we could not read the local guide book during the bus ride to the resort. Because of this, we were unaware of the many things that would have made our holiday more fun". See what we mean?

It's unclear if they're complaining about bumpy roads or just not being aware of the different activities available to them. You would think that they'd be able to read the guidebook once they made it to the resort if they couldn't read it on the bus.
