Gary, Indiana

At first glance, it may look as though the city of Gary in Indiana is in good shape. This government building looks grand and important - and you've got to love it when the sun is shining! But behind all of that you have a struggling city that's considered to be one of the worst in America. And that's mainly because most of the people who used to live here have since left it deserted.

Once considered the murder and narcotics capital of the United States, this city is still suffering from high unemployment levels and a high poverty rate. So, most people just leave.
